The American delegation, headed by Vice President JDVans, and the Iranian delegation, left the Pakistani capital Islamabad, at dawn on Sunday, immediately after the end of the intensive round of negotiations hosted by Pakistan with the Iranian side.
Vance announced that no final agreement had been reached to end the war, describing the proposals submitted as the “last and best” American offer pending the final Iranian position.
For its part, Tehran said: “We have reached an understanding on a number of issues with Washington and we disagreed on others and we will not reach an agreement,” adding that “the negotiations were held in an atmosphere of distrust, and it is natural not to expect to reach an agreement at the beginning.”
