On Thursday, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s naval force issued a strong urgent warning to all naval vessels and ships sailing in the region, in which it announced a complete ban on navigation traffic under pealty of direct military targeting.
This came hours after Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, in the context of mass alert and escalating maritime clashes in the region.
The Revolutionary Guards Navy warned in its statement against “the departure of any ship or naval piece for its anchor in the Gulf region and the Sea of Oman during the current hours.”
She stressed that Iranian forces will consider the approach of any ship to the Strait of Hormuz as a hostile act and direct cooperation with the American enemy, and will be treated immediately as a legitimate military objective for the Iranian naval forces, according to the statement.
